Webinar Purpose:
There are four hot standards in the hospital conditions of
participation (CoPs) that hospitals must be in compliance if they accept Medicare and
Medicaid payment. These include verbal orders, history and physicals, security of
medications, and post-anesthesia orders. Hospitals continue to strive to meet compliance
with these challenging standards. The relationship to the Joint Commission standards will
also be discussed. The top ten problematic standards will also be discussed and how to
meet compliance.
This program will also provide updates to the CMS CoP
manual since it was published. New changes include visitation, respiratory and rehab
orders, and anesthesia. Proposed changes include telemedicine and notification of the QIO
and state agency.
The post-anesthesia and pre-anesthesia evaluation standard
was changed again for the fourth time on February 14, 2011. Verbal orders are a top
problematic standard with both the Joint Commission and CMS. This program will also cover
